Four clever tips to reduce your monthly supermarket bill by bulk buying
SUPER-SIZING your shopping could be the key to making super savings.
Buying the right items in bulk could help reduce your monthly supermarket bill as long as you know what to buy and where to buy it from.
Follow my smart tactics to save big when buying big. . .
MAKE NEW STORE SAVINGS: Head to Costco, which sells multiples and super-sized products, and you can buy almost anything.
The annual membership fee for individuals is £33.60, which works out at £2.80 per month and it is estimated you can save around 20 per cent on items.
For example, a can of Red Bull is £1.35 from Asda, but buy a 24-pack at Costco for £19.39 – that’s 81p each.
ADD TO BASKET: New online retailers are popping up with big savings if you buy more products. Motatos.co.uk offer a way to save sustainably by selling discounted products that might have been binned due to label changes or similar.

It means you can get deals like six packs of Walkers Sensations Street Mix Mumbai Peanuts 106g, usually £2.50 per pack, for a total of £3.60. Another great website is easho.co.uk, which has lots of deals, such as six bottles of Astonish cream cleaner with bleach for £5.61, which would cost you £7.20 if you bought them individually at Ocado.com.
HORSES FOR COURSES: Pick products that won’t spoil and you will always use. Loo roll, coffee and laundry detergent are all good bets — just compare with supermarket promotions at the time. Dry items like rice and pasta are good investments.
Avoid cooking oil, fresh produce, spices and beauty products due to their shorter shelf life.
BE SMART WITH STORAGE: Buy a large bag of potatoes and store somewhere cool and dark and they will keep for months as will garlic and onions.

Stack tins within easy reach and always have the items ordered by date in your cupboards, with the items that need using first at the front.
But always remember: If you don’t need it, then buying more isn’t a saving.
