Asda slashes the price of petrol – and it’s 12p a litre cheaper than the average
ASDA has slashed the price of petrol - making it 12p a litre cheaper than the national average.
The supermarket has cut the price of petrol by 5p a litre and diesel by 3p to help drivers save money at the pumps.
Drivers filling up at Asda's forecourts will pay on average 174p for unleaded and 185p for diesel.
According to latest Government figures, the average price of petrol was 186.67p this week, and for diesel, it's 195.91p.

AA fuel price spokesman Luke Bosdet said that this would save drivers £5 off the cost of filling up a tank of petrol.
It comes as fuel prices are rocketing, driven mainly by the ongoing crisis in Eastern Europe.
Concerns have been raised about supplies being disrupted due to the war - which has caused wholesale prices to spike.
Asda isn't the only company to lower its fuel prices.
A Texaco petrol station in Walkden, Greater Manchester claimed to be the "cheapest petrol station" in the UK after selling unleaded petrol at 159.9p a litre.
It caused hundreds of drivers to queue up to fill up the cars for less at the garage.
While earlier this month, drivers rushed to a Shell garage at Trago Mills in Devon after unleaded petrol was being sold at 164.9p a litre.
Wholesale petrol prices peaked above £1 a litre on June 1 but have since fallen to below 80p a litre around two weeks ago.
Petrol retailers have been criticised for not passing on the savings to motorists.
The AA said the change could see the cost of a tank drop by £10 within a fortnight.
Experts have advised motorists to look out for independent petrol stations who are under-cutting big names with smaller prices.
