My nan’s energy saving hack costs only 65p and could shave £20 off bills
A MAN has revealed how a tip from his nan has helped him save money on his energy bills.
Carl Alexis shared the heating hack on TikTok and has amazed viewers online, racking up hundreds of thousands of views.
IT worker Carl uploads to TikTok under the username @carlosmanwelly.
He explained as the cost of living was rising, he remembered the simple hack his nan told him about.
Carl told NeedToKnow.online: "I was looking for ways to conserve energy due to the rising costs.
"I can feel as I pass the radiator, more heat coming from it."
Carl's trick is to put some silver foil down behind the radiator, which reflects the heat back into the room rather than it escaping through the walls of your house.

A fourth stated they already did the hack themselves: “I normally put it on the wall behind the radiator.
Carl said the rising cost of living has left him with less spending money and having to budget more carefully, but still "keep my house running at the same time".
And he's not the only as millions of households face energy bills this winter as high at £3,616, and are looking for any way to cut costs.
According to British Gas engineer Joanna Flowers, the trick could save you £20 a year.
She told The Sun: "Foil panels can be found at most DIY stores or online and are relatively cheap and make sure heat travels into the room," she said.
"This tip saves even more on radiators on exterior walls. You can even use regular foil if you need to."
However, not everyone was impressed with one user writing, “£2.00 tinfoil to save 2p in heat.”
Another reflected: “You know modern life is not good when people are using tips from the 70s.”
A third wrote: “What about other parts of the room that escapes heat? Can't do foil paper wallpapering.”
According to Trolley.co.uk, you can buy tin foil for as little as 65p
How else can I save on my energy bills?
There are various benefits you may be eligible for.
The Household Support Fund will help you pay for your bills and food through free cash or vouchers.
However, the amount you receive and your eligibility depends on the area you live in.
In order to check if you're eligible, you should call your council and ask whether they are doing anything for the scheme.
You may also be entitled to the cost of living payment.
The cost of living payment is a £650 payment, being handed out in two instalments, for those who are claiming Universal Credit.
If you're entitled to the payment, you should've received your first payment of £326 in July. The second is believed to be coming Autumn this year.
Pensioners may be entitled to more money with the cost of living payment.
