Thousands to get new £400 energy bill payment including renters – do you qualify?

THOUSANDS of households that pay for district and communal heating will receive a £400 energy bill discount from October.
The government has today confirmed that additional funding will be made available so that the £400 energy bill discounts will be extended to help those previously excluded.
The funding will now help park home residents and for some tenants whose landlords pay for their energy bills.
The government is committed to ensuring such households receive the same support for their energy bills.
Legislation will be introduced to make sure that landlords pass the £400 energy bill discount on to tenants who pay all-inclusive bills.
The news comes at the same time that the government has confirmed that businesses and third sector organisations struggling will spiralling energy costs will finally see bills capped from October 1.

According to a recent report by , almost 585,000 renters are currently signed up to a "bills included" contract with their landlords.
Here, the landlord manages the tenant's gas and electricity charges.
This means the tenant does not have a direct relationship with their energy supplier and charities have previously warned that these households could miss out on energy bill support.
Dame Clare Moriarty, chief executive of Citizens Advice previously said: "It’s vital that government support reaches the people it’s intended for.

"We’re worried that many tenants are falling through the cracks, putting them at risk of missing out on money to help them with soaring bills.
"The government should also bring forward clear guidance for landlords to make sure tenants don’t miss out on the upcoming £400 energy grant."
It is estimated that a further 850,000 households live in mobile homes on 2,000 sites across the UK and it was unclear as to whether they would be entitled to the energy bill discount.
The government had in recent week failed to clarify how more than 17,000 additional households that rely on heating networks to warm their homes will receive the discount - however, new legislation will ensure these homes get the money off.
What other energy bill help is coming?
In November, a £300 one-off "Pensioner Cost of Living Payment" will be paid out to eight million households.
It will be given to those who already get the winter fuel payment - which is worth between £100 and £300 for those over state pension age.
Millions of households are in line to get the £150 Warm Home Discount between December and March 2023.

There are plenty of energy grants and schemes open to help you out if you're struggling.
British Gas has recently confirmed that it'll pay its most vulnerable customers grants worth £750 to help with sky-high bills.
The has previously paid struggling households up to £1,500 - and you don't need to be a British Gas customer to apply for this help.

What can we expect in Friday's mini Budget?
In just two days the government will finally step in with a mini budget they say should provide crucial relief for hard-up Brits facing sky high bills.
The PM previously confirmed a multi-billion package to save typical Brits £1,000 by protecting them from crippling global gas costs.
Bills were set to rise to £3,500 in October and more than £6,000 next April in a terrifying prospect for most households.
However in a mammoth intervention - which could cost more than furlough - Ms Truss is now going to cap costs from October 1, with the typical family paying no more than £2,500.
This morning Business Secretary Jacob Rees-Mogg also announced that the government will freeze wholesale non-domestic energy costs at £211 per MWh for electricity and £75 per MWh for gas.
The support for businesses will be equivalent to the energy price guarantee that Liz Truss announced earlier this month.
Homes that use heating oil rather than gas will also get an additional £100 on top of the £400 bills discount already announced.
More than 1.6million homes are thought to currently rely on heating oil.
The Chancellor is also expected to slash the Health and Social Care Levy that was brought in under Boris Johnson’s administration last April.
Last night The Times reported that Ms Truss has been working secretly on plans to axe stamp duty.
Cutting the levy will encourage growth by allowing more people to move property and getting more first-time buyers on the housing ladder.
Mr Kwarteng is expected to announce that the basic rate of income tax will be slashed from 20p to 19p.
