Martin Lewis Show – Money expert reveals little known way to slash prices on haircuts at salons
HARD-up Brits can make big savings on their haircuts with a simple trick revealed by Martin Lewis.
The money saving expert shared the advice in a new “insider tips” segment on his ITV show.
The anonymous insider, who was reportedly a salon owner of over 20 years, said that most outlets have different price points depending on the experience of the hairdresser.
These are apparently often split between a junior stylist, a stylist and the salon’s artistic director.
The expert told Martin that while customers might feel only the artistic director can cut their hair just the way they like it, but they can save money by booking the stylist, or even junior stylist, to have their hair coloured.
This is because, according to the expert, the salon will keep the exact colour formula you prefer on file so anyone can apply it.
This could save Brits a large portion of the price each time they visit their hairdresser.
For those willing to risk it with the junior stylist, having the cut and colour from them rather than the artistic director could help customers see a sizeable price drop.
Not all junior stylists will be permitted to colour hair due to potential insurance issues.
However, they will be able to cut hair if agreed with the salon manager.

Twitter gave the tips a warm reception on the whole, with one user writing: “Fab show tonight loved hair dresser bit but can’t wait for Christmas countdown.”
Another joked that the insider had saved them “loads of money” before revealing in a photo that they are bald.
However, some disagreed with the advice, with @Trish4Animals writing: “Using a junior stylist might be cheaper but boy you’re in that chair for far far longer & highlights aren’t as good (not close enough to the roots). I prefer to pay the higher price.”
Another suggested it might not be relevant to struggling Brits, saying: “Who the heck can afford hairdressers? They’re clearly not worrier about bills. I trim my own hair.”
On his show last night, Lewis also revealed four hacks to get cheap food and drink from a range of shops.
Restaurant giants like Greggs and Burger King are running deals which punters can use to get free food items, while Waitrose is bringing back it’s popular hot drink and newspaper offer.
