Martin Lewis Money Show – Urgent warning issued for Tesco customers over Clubcard vouchers

MARTIN Lewis has warned that £13million worth of Tesco vouchers are due to expire in a week but there's a trick to extend them.

The founder of Money Saving Expert last night detailed a clever way the vouchers can be extended by two years on his ITV show Martin Lewis Money Show Live.

The supermarket giant had previously warned customers to use their loyalty vouchers in order not to miss out.

Any vouchers which were issued in November 2020 will run out on November 30 this year.

However, Mr Lewis said there is a way to get around this.

Firstly, use a £10 Tesco Clubcard voucher to buy a 50p restaurant voucher on its rewards page.

This will be worth £1.50 as the value triples on the rewards page, Mr Lewis explained.

The remaining balance of the voucher - £9.50 - would then be credited back to your Clubcard account as points, reissued with newer expiry dates.

This is a handy way to extend your vouchers, but keep in mind it only works on its rewards page - you won't get it if you buy something in store or online.

The trick works on any small purchase on the Tesco Clubcard site with the voucher or vouchers you have.

But you will have to do this for each voucher, so it might not be worth it for smaller vouchers like those at £1, as you won't get as much money back.

Shoppers can check to see what vouchers they have by logging on to Tesco’s app or going to the website tesco.com/clubcard.

Tesco group director of loyalty and membership, Tash Whitmey, previously said: “We want to help our customers to have a joyful and affordable Christmas and Clubcard is the best way to get great value with Tesco – from Clubcard Rewards to thousands of exclusive deals through Clubcard Prices.

“With more than £13m worth of Clubcard vouchers due to expire this month, we’re reminding customers to spend them to help spread the cost of Christmas – whether that’s getting ahead on their festive food shop or by picking up an extra stocking filler.”
