Costa is giving away free drinks from today – but there’s a catch

COSTA Coffee is giving away free drinks to customers - but there is a catch.

The coffee retailer is offering shoppers the chance to get a free hot drink when they purchase a drink today (January 20).

Costa customers can get a free drink today

You can claim the offer when buying any hot or cold drink from Costa Coffee, including bottles of fizzy drinks like Coca-Cola.

You'll have to buy a drink first to get this freebie, plus you'll need to be registered to its loyalty scheme .

If you're not signed up, it's free to do so - but you'll need to do that today and before you buy the drink.

You'll be able to grab the offer if you buy a drink in any Costa Coffee store, or via click & collect or via the Costa Express machines.

When making the purchase, you'll need to scan your Costa Rewards app at the till (like you would with any other purchase).

You'll then be sent a voucher for your free drink, this will appear on your Costa Rewards account.

But you'll need to be quick as the voucher is only valid between January 21 and January 26.

You can redeem the free drink in any Costa Coffee shop.

Shoppers will have the chance to get one of three drinks using their voucher. These are:

  • Hot coffee
  • Tea
  • Hot chocolate

The reward cannot be redeemed at Costa Express self-service coffee machines or Proud to Serve outlets or via delivery.

What other loyalty schemes are there?

In October, KFC introduced a major change to its rewards scheme, ditching its loyalty points in favour of a game.

You can also earn stamps each time you buy breakfast, drinks, savouries and bakes, sandwiches, sweet treats and hot food at Greggs.

And McDonald's fans can earn points via the My McDonald's app.

Customers collect points by buying food from the fast food chain and exchanging these points for their fave meals.
