IT'S SHEDS HEAVEN

I converted my back garden into an English boozer to win Shed of the Year, says ex-pat living in Germany

AN ex-pat living in Germany has built an English pub in his back garden in a bid to win Shed of the Year.

The makeshift boozer is one of the leading entries tipped to win the prize for backyard buffs.

Brit Ian Diggance, who lives in Hamburg, built his bar in an 11 x 4 metre shed, complete with a 43 inch TV, pool table and bluetooth speakers loud enough to make neighbours “really appreciate England beating Germany”.

He added: “We use it for pool sessions, music parties and cinema evenings.

“The walls and ceilings are plastered with my football memorabilia from Wolverhampton Wanderers and naturally England… together with many other bits and bobs which have found a perfect home here.

Other decorations in the Lamb and Flag – which Ian constructed from the remains of a derelict shack in 2018 – include a portrait of the late Queen Elizabeth and a so-called “outdoor seating area”.

Ian said: “My pub isn’t perfect, but it has innumerable personal touches and memories as its stand-out feature.”

Cuprinol’s Shed of the Year competition, first launched in 2006, has attracted global attention – with entries streaming in from the UK, Germany and the USA.

Other hot tips for the £1,000 top prize include a Star Wars-themed shed in Yorkshire, and a pop-up bar outhouse in California.

Shed lovers have just 50 days to submit their entries for the popular contest online.
