Fans on social media have been whipping up excitement as the countdown begins.

The minty treat has been on the shelves in Australia for a while, with one fan's post saying the new flavour is "so yummy".

Another said: "Mmmm love mint flavour chocolates."

Previous limited edition Twirls include the Orange Twirl, which was so popular that to buy a case on eBay cost up to £700.

After a run of limited edition promotions, Cadbury made it a permanent part of the Twirl family in 2021.

The latest limited-edition bar is the first time Cadbury has combined the minty fresh flavour with Twirl chocolate.

And it's set to be popular with Twirl and mint choc superfans alike.

Frederike Grohmann, brand manager for Cadbury Twirl, said: “We are excited to be introducing Twirl Mint into the Cadbury brand family this month.

"The minty flavours might transport you back to the 80s, but in its indulgently Twirly format we’re expecting mint chocolate fans will want to run to shops to try it."

There’s only a limited number available, so Grohmann said Twirl fans should act fast.

He added: "Mint chocolate super-fans don’t panic!

"Cadbury will be offering a limited number of people the chance to be one of the first to try the new bar, giving away 1,000 Twirl Mints to mint chocolate fans for free."

Twirl Mint can be found in shops across the nation and online from CadburyGiftsDirect for an RRP of 75p from 1 May.

A Twirl 'top fan' posted online: "Is this going to be the same hassle getting hold of it like the orange twirl was lol."

Another said: "I’ll have 600 for my birthday."
