THERE is a little-known job where you can earn £50,000 a year and you won't need a degree - but there's catch.

The tantalising pay packet is for a glass blower, which only requires a bit of experience on the factory floor to secure the job.

The job entails design, creation and finishing skills with all things glass.

Blowers can specialise in artistic pieces or work on more functional products such as mirrors, windows and laboratory equipment.

Jobs available now have salaries between £35,000 and £50,000 for full-time staff.

But there's a catch. Salaried roles are an exception and most work in the field is freelance, meaning a steady income is not guaranteed.

In a post on glass blowing, website Target Jobs states: "Being a glass blower often means working freelance, so salary varies depending on contacts and experience.

"To get into the industry, there are relevant postgraduate degrees, NVQs and other courses available, but you can also train on the job in a glass factory.

"The National Glass Centre in Sunderland is a useful hub to visit if you're thinking of working in glass - it has no entry fee and features lots of glass exhibitions."

Another little-known role lets you put your social media addiction to good use for nearly triple the UK average wage.

A chief listening officer monitors what people are saying about your company on FacebookTwitterInstagramTikTok and Pinterest.

The officer has to keep an eye out for any complaints customers make about their experience with the company - so the problem can be resolved before word spreads.

They also have to observe the reaction to new ad campaigns on social media, so they can provide feedback to the company marketing department.

Insurance firm Unum says that chief listening officers can earn as much as £61,000 per year.
