Three budget-friendly ideas to get your feet ready for sandals this summer
WARMER weather means it’s time to ditch the socks and get your feet in tip-top condition.
But rather than splashing out on a pricey pedicure, raid the kitchen cupboards to concoct mixtures that will leave your soles soft and supple.
Try these budget-friendly ideas to get ready for sandals.
SKIN ’EM ALIVE: Start your at-home pedi with a foot soak. Fill a washing-up-sized bowl with warm water, add a handful of Epsom salts and around a cup of white, or apple cider, vinegar.
The salt soothes tired feet and helps remove old skin. You can get a pack for £1 from Poundshop.com. Vinegar is said to help soften the skin and neutralise odours.
Add a couple of drops of essential oil, such as eucalyptus or lavender, to make the soak smell heavenly.

SCRUB UP WELL: A home-made foot scrub is easy to knock up and will help remove hard skin.
Mix two or three spoonfuls of brown sugar with a tablespoon of oil.
You can use olive oil or coconut oil. Massage the scrub into your feet for a few minutes and wash off with warm water.
If you have a pumice stone at home, use this to help get rid of particularly hard skin. A foot file is effective too, and Tesco sells these for £2.10.

GONE SOFT: For a big moisture hit, cover your feet in olive oil before bed. Then put on socks and you will wake up in the morning to sumptuously soft toes and heels.
You can also make a foot mask by mashing up a banana with a sprinkle of oats. Mix in a tablespoon of moisturising honey and another spoon of olive oil.
Coat your feet in the mask, wrap in clingfilm, and let the ingredients work their magic for at least 15 minutes.
To finish, give your nails colour with Barry M’s Gelly Hi Shine range.
