NO SWEAT: Running around the playground can leave sweat stains, especially on white shirts and PE kit.

Get them in the wash as soon as possible. Leaving pongy PE kit in the bag for days will make things worse.

To tackle the blemishes, use either a specialist stain treatment or try rubbing white vinegar into the area.

A paste made from bicarbonate of soda and water can also work. Leave for 20 minutes and then wash as normal.

PAIN IN THE GRASS: It’s great to get in a game of football at break, but the inevitable grass stains are an own goal.

Even the score by putting cold water on the back of the fabric and then doing the same to the stain.

The cold will stop this type of mark from setting. Rub the stain and fabric together to loosen the blemish.

You could then use a stain remover or try mixing equal parts of white vinegar and water. Work the solution into the area and leave it to rest for five minutes before washing as normal.

STAIN REMOVER SWAP: If you’re stocking up on stain remover, buy own brand to cut costs.

When The Sun tested the supermarkets’ own products, Sainsbury’s stain remover powder for colours performed best. It’s £2.95 for a kilo tub — while the same size pack of Vanish Oxi Action is £6.50.

POWDER FOR PENNIES: Aldi’s Almat non-bio came out top in washing powder tests by The Sun — and at £3.95 for 40 washes, it’s a bargain.

It costs 9.9p a wash, so if you do four washes a week, it will cost you £20.59 a year.

Using Ariel Platinum pods, £12.50 for 44 pods, will cost you 28p a wash. That’s £58.24 a year.

So you’ll save £37.65 with the Aldi powder.
