Brexit has ‘created opportunities for Britain’, says Bank of England boss
BREXIT has “created opportunities for Britain” the governor of the Bank of England, Andrew Bailey, has said.
He told Prospect magazine that the Bank’s job was “to be neutral” on the subject.
But he said: “I think we have protected, and in a sense ensured, that much of the market and industry remains here.
“And that’s been important.”
Mr Bailey said policy makers needed to protect financial stability because in the short term there were “negative effects” from reducing the “openness of an economy”.
He also warned that after the past few dramatic years, there remained “further large shocks that we don’t know about”.
