Five cheap and easy tricks to swap costly candles this winter
TURN your home into a winter wonderland with the power of perfume.
Swap expensive candles and home fragrances for these money-saving tricks.
GO FIR IT: Search for fallen pine cones then put them in a sandwich bag and add a few drops of your favourite winter essential oil or try the Essican Winter Spice oil, £2.99, amazon.co.uk.
Seal the bag then shake it gently so the cones absorb the scent.
After a few days, remove them from the bag and place in around the house for a pretty display that also makes your house smell incredible.
FRESH ‘N’ CLEAN: Spread the scent of winter throughout your home by adding a few drops of scented essential oil to your surface cleaner.

Or dab some on a microfibre cloth before polishing.
You could also do the same with Zoflora disinfectant in Frosted Peppermint, £3.99, Savers.
BAKE OFF: Give your home a warm welcoming smell by preheating the oven to a low temperature, then adding a few drops of vanilla essence and a sprinkle of cinnamon powder to a baking tray before heating for an hour.
However, it might make more sense to pick up the Asda vanilla cupcake kit, £1.90, add butter and an egg to bake six vanilla cupcakes you can dust with cinnamon.

You can also do the same thing with bunches of dried herbs.
CLOVE CALL: Embark on a crafty adventure by making pomander balls with cloves and citrus fruits.
