A MAJOR fashion chain with 350 stores has put a shop up for let - with shoppers slamming the "absolutely shocking" news.

is leasing its high-street outlet in Market Drayton, Shropshire.

The shop is listed on property site Rightmove for £2,500pcm.

It comes with a loading lift, office, basement, glazed shop front and 3,590sqft of floor space.

Fast fashion chain Peacocks said: "The property would lend itself to a variety of commercial uses, subject to statutory consents.

"Market Drayton is an established market town in North Shropshire with a population of about 12,000 people."

But locals in Market Drayton are fuming over the announcement that the shop is up for let.

Wayne said: "Another shop closing down? Ghost town."

Jamie said: "That's absolutely shocking."

Lyn said: "The big stores come into town pushing out our little independent ones.

"Then they go bust and leave us empty."

Cardiff-based chain Peacocks was brought out of administration in 2021 after nearly going bust.

Part of the Edinburgh Woollen Mill group, it employs 6,000 people across its stores.

A popular Italian restaurant will close all of its branches before the New Year - with fans slamming the "horrific" news.
