The Spice Girls are only the sixth music group to feature in a dedicated stamp issue, following on from The Beatles in 2007, Pink Floyd in 2016, Queen in 2020, The Rolling Stones in 2022 and Iron Maiden in 2023.

And they are the first girl band to be celebrated by Royal Mail.

Geri Horner, Mel B, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton and Mel C said: “That’s Girl Power!”

The Spice Girls got their first No1 hit with Wannabe, which released on July 20, 1996.

The song was the first of six successive No1 hits.

The Spice Girls failed to make it seven in a row when Stop only reached No2 in 1998.

They then followed that up with three more number ones.
