Walkers ‘sorry to disappoint fans’ as it discontinues iconic ‘god tier’ crisp flavour after more than 20 years

This will be the fifth crisp flavour Walkers has discontinued in the past three months

WALKERS has confirmed it has discontinued a hugely popular crisp flavour which has been on shop shelves for more than 20 years.

The crisp brand said it discontinued its Marmite crisp flavour at the end of last year, and it’s now slowly disappearing off shelves.

The controversial flavour has long been a fan favourite for years and many have left supermarket reviews sharing their love for the crisps.

One fan said: “This flavour crisp takes me back to the 1960’s.”

Another said: “I always come back to these.

A third shopper claimed: “You can easily become addicted to these.”

Someone else said: “Plenty of flavour – and they’re well cooked and crisp without being greasy.”

While another added: “Marmite is a god crisp flavour.”

Many shoppers have struggled to get their hands on the iconic flavour for years and it wasn’t long before fans started to speculate the crisps might soon be discontinued.

One X formerly known as Twitter, user asked: “Walkers have you discontinued marmite crisps again?”

Walkers told the Sun they were well aware the flavour was beloved by fans but hoped to pave the way for new flavours.

A Walkers spokesperson told The Sun: “We are very sorry to disappoint fans of Marmite flavour Walkers crisps with this news.”

“We know many crisp lovers will hate to see this Walkers’ flavour go.”

“This change will enable us to focus our efforts on making more of the flavours crisp fans love the most.”

If you want to get your hands on this flavour there are still some available.

A six multipack of the crisps is available in Tesco for £1.95.

Sainsbury’s has the multipack in stores for a little bit more at £2.20 or £1.65 if you have a Nectar card.

Bear in mind as Walkers had officially stopped production chances are these won’t stay on the shelves for long.

It has been a tough ride for Walker’s fans as several other crips flavours have been discontinued in the past few months.

In October Walkers axed its hugely popular Worcester sauce flavour and fans claimed “their sandwiches were ruined.”

Fans also said goodbye to Max Fiercely Flamin Hot crisps in November as well as the Beef and Onion flavour.

Last month Walkers discontinued its Sensations Regal Lamb and Mint crisps.
