Pepsi discontinues ‘best ever flavour’ after five years as devastated fans beg for a comeback

The flavour has been ditched to make way for another fruity alternative

FANS are begging for the return of Pepsi Max Raspberry after it was discontinued to make way for other flavours.

The flavour has been a popular item in the range since its launch in 2019, sitting alongside varieties including cherry, mango and lime.

Pepsi has discontinued its Raspberry flavour after nearly five years

But towards the end of last year, fans started noticing the drink disappearing from shelves, prompting an outcry from hundreds of fans.

One said: “Why have you stopped doing the Raspberry Pepsi Max!? That was the best flavour!!!”

Another added: “After you discontinued Pepsi Raspberry, I stopped drinking Pepsi. I’m drinking Aldi’s Twisted Fruits.”

A third said: “Please bring Pepsi Max Raspberry back to our shelves. Mango and Lime don’t even come close to how magical it was.”

And a fourth commented: “Please, please, please, bring back raspberry Pepsi. It is the best Pepsi ever.”

One super-fan has even started up a Facebook group and petition to spearhead the campaign.

The firm responded to say that the drink had made way for the new Pepsi Max Mango, which was launched last summer.

At the time, maker Britvic said flavoured cola was growing three times faster than unflavoured cola, with Pepsi Max leading within the category in Britain.

Its prime target is Generation Z, people aged between 1996 and 2010, who say new flavours are the top influence on the drinks they buy, according to Britvic’s research.

It hoped the new Mango version would continue to drive excitement and attract new shoppers as a healthy no-sugar choice.

The company also faced a backlash after discontinuing the Ginger variety in 2021.

Tom Church, co-founder of  said: “Drink companies like Pepsi often update their products with market trends.

“Removing Pepsi Max Raspberry makes room for new flavours like Pepsi Max Mango.

“It keeps the brand relevant and engaging. Some raspberry fans will be gutted, but usually new options renews fading interest in the brand.

“And I’ll be the first to predict that in a few years, Pepsi will bring raspberry back for a limited time.”

PepsiCo spokesperson said: “We’re really sorry to disappoint Pepsi MAX Raspberry fans with this news and we understand they’re sad to see the flavour go.

“This change will enable us to focus our efforts on making more of the delicious Pepsi MAX flavours people love, such as Cherry, Lime and our recently-launched Pepsi MAX Mango.”

It comes as the manufacturer of Pepsi previously made a huge change to its drinks – and it could make it taste different.

Last March, PepsiCo confirmed that its classic fizzy drinks now have 57 per cent less sugar in them.

Britvic also launched Tango Mango earlier this month.

Pepsi isn’t the only drinks brand to shake up its offering either.

In February, The Sun could reveal Coca-Cola is bringing back its lemon flavour after 18 years.

Tango will also release Raspberry Blast and Cherry Blast flavours in the coming weeks.

These two flavours are widely known as the combination used in the Ice Blast slushies we see on offer in cinemas nationwide.

Fans of the new flavours have been left ecstatic after hearing the news.
