PUNTERS are devastated as Wetherspoons puts their "great" local boozer up for sale.
The news has prompted uproar on Facebook as regulars share their heartbreak.
A spokesperson for Wetherspoons confirmed it's the end of the road for The Bears Head in Penarth, Wales, prompting punters to start a petition to save it.
One person commented: "So disappointed Bears Head will be sorely missed by many regulars."
Another added: "So disappointing, Bears Head will be sorely missed and is a very popular and important place in Penarth town centre."
A third agreed: "Sad state of affairs isn’t it," while a fourth wrote: "Absolutely pointless."

There is no set date on when the pub will close and it will continue to operate as a Wetherspoons pub until its closure date.
Staff have been assured there will be no redundancies and they will be offered jobs at other branches.
Wetherspoons has served a break notice on the lease.
It comes as Pub operator JD Wetherspoon revealed that it will be investing a whopping £2.5 million into developing a new pub near Waterloo Station.

The pub will be called The Lion and the Unicorn and will be located in The Sidings Waterloo Station, near Black Sheep Coffee and Nando’s.
The Bears Head isn't the only Wetherspoons to close recently.
The company also shut down one of its most "beautiful" pubs.
The Asparagus was among four other Wetherspoons in south London which were put up for sale last September but now it has officially closed.
The Asparagus opened on Falcon Road in 1998 and holds two floors, a garden patio and a basement.

The pub got its famous name from the Aparagus plant which Battersea is famous for producing alongside cabbage, beans and lavender.
And punters were saddened to hear their favourite boozer, The Holland Tringham, in Streatham, London, will be calling last orders on March 10.
However, the closure is only temporary, with pints set to be pulled again by April 30.
It is understood The Holland Tringham is closing to allow some refurbishments and renovations.
