VINTED sellers are being warned they may face long delays to get cash due to a payment glitch, The Sun can reveal.

We have heard from dozens of sellers who have struggled to get their hard-earned cash out over the last few weeks after Vinted said they had already been paid.

The re-selling platform has confirmed to The Sun its payment provider has been suffering from a tech issue in recent weeks and it is still working to rectify the problem, meaning users may face further delays.

Vinted is a second-hand selling app which has amassed millions of users in the UK over the last few years looking to flog their old wares or bag a bargain.

Its popularity soared over the pandemic when shoppers were unable to hit the high street and Brits had the chance to clear out their wardrobes.

But over the last few months, we have heard from dozens of users facing myriad issues with getting their money back.

It is understood the problem relates to tech issues with Vinted's third party payment service provider, Mangopay.

Any transactions made through Vinted are processed and stored by Mangopay, which then pays the money to users' bank accounts.

But some payments sent to Mangopay by Vinted have then not been passed on, leaving sellers in limbo as Vinted has argued it's paid them.

A spokesperson for Vinted said: "In the past few weeks, a small number of Vinted members experienced issues with funds being received by banks after payouts had been successfully processed by Vinted.

"Mangopay is already aware of the affected cases and is in the process of resolving them.

"Vinted is in constant contact with Mangopay to resolve any cases brought to our attention, however, there may be a further delay as a result, for which we apologise.

"We are working as quickly as we can to help resolve the issues for our members."

As of this year, Vinted is estimated to have 16million users in the UK.

'I had to escalate my complaint to get my £400'

Vinted seller Dawn Russell said she was left waiting for over seven weeks for her £400 earnings to be paid out after Vinted said it had already sent the money.

Dawn was asked to provide copies of her bank statements and signed letter from her bank, Barclays, to prove she had not received the funds.

But Barclays said it didn't see why it should have to provide such a letter when the money had clearly never been received.

Dawn was then left stuck as Vinted said there was nothing it could do without the letter.

Dawn finally received her cash this week.

'I've been waiting five months for my £223 earnings'

However, user Kirsty Simpson hasn't been so lucky.

Kirsty, 28, told The Sun she is owed £223.49 from December after she had a clear out of her closet before Christmas.

The savvy seller said she watched my Vinted balance increase and felt super proud to be getting rid of bits that had been sitting in her wardrobe for years.

However, after requesting to withdraw the funds at the end of the month, she noticed the money hadn't made it to her bank account.

"I contacted Vinted's Customer Service team to ask them to investigate, as there was clearly a glitch similar to what others have experienced," she said.

"I have spent over a month going back and fourth with Vinted and I cannot take any more, they are talking about Mangopay and that I should take it up with them and my bank. It is insane."

Vinted is now helping to recover Kirsty's funds after The Sun stepped in.

How does Vinted work?

VINTED is an app where you can buy and sell second-hand clothes and accessories.

Sellers can list items on the app for free and there are no fees for selling items either.

Instead, buyers pay a buyer protection fee on every transaction, worth between 3% and 8% of the sale price before postage, plus 30p to 80p depending on the item's value.

This fee contributes towards protecting buyers if they have a problem with their order.

Any money you earn as a seller goes into your Vinted Wallet, which you can then withdraw out to your bank account as cash.

What can I do if my money isn't paid out?

If you're struggling to get your cash from Vinted, first get in touch with the app and let it know you haven't received your money.

Provide and evidence to show you haven't received the money such as your latest bank statements.
