SHARING an afternoon tea is one of life’s little treats.
But that towering plate of cakes and nibbles can leave you with a big bill to swallow.
With it being Afternoon Tea Week, we have ways to take a bite out of the price . . .
DAINTY DEALS: If you’d love a pile of perfectly sliced sandwiches and pretty pastries, look for a great deal on a special tea outing.
There’s a list of offers at afternoontea.co.uk.
Have a look on deal sites for more special offers, too.

At Wowcher, you can get afternoon tea for two with prosecco at nine locations, including John Lewis in London’s Oxford Street, where it is £39 instead of £54.95.
At virginexperiencedays.co.uk you can save 20 per cent on afternoon teas until tomorrow with the code FLASH20.
TEA THINGS OFF: Save yourself even more by creating the experience at home.
Start with a good-quality, great-tasting cuppa. In a blind taste test with the Tea Advisory Panel, Asda’s Everyday tea bags and PG Tips were the two top choices.

The Asda bags are £1.20 for 80, compared with around £3.40 for PG Tips.
CAKE EXPECTATIONS: There’s nothing like a homemade cake for afternoon tea.
But with some great offers in the supermarkets this week, buying a sponge is also tempting.
Try Sainsbury’s for favourites such as a Victoria sandwich or carrot cake, which is £2.50 with a Nectar card down from £3.50.
Serve alongside cucumber sandwiches for a hotel-style experience at a slice of the price.
SIMPLY TOPPING: To elevate your afternoon tea, take some tips from Reshmi Bennett, of London bakery Anges de Sucre.
Alongside baking, she loves creating “fake bakes” — showstoppers for under £10 using shop-bought cakes and frosting.
She then tops the cakes with sweets, biscuits, chocolate and even extra cupcakes.
Look at her Instagram @angedesucre for inspiration.
