Tesco shoppers rush to buy Celebrations tubs with only one flavour for Christmas – and it’s dividing all chocolate fans

Shoppers can get their hands on the treat while stocks last

TESCO shoppers are rushing to get their hands on Celebration tubs with just one flavour after the favourite was spotted on shelves.

Eagle-eyed shoppers noticed the 350g boxes of Bounty-only chocolates were on sale for £7 at the major supermarket.

The Bounty-only celebration boxes were launched last year

Fans of the coconut treat took to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains Facebook Group to share their delight.

Nearly 300 people liked the post, while others commented that they were eager to get their hands on the boxes.

One customer said: “Top of the Christmas list!”

Another added: “Christmas sorted.”

Meanwhile, another happy fan added: “Couldn’t get these in our Tesco last year. I kept looking out for them.

“Hopefully we will be able to get them this year.”

But not everyone was thrilled at the return of the iconic blue-wrapped chocolate bar.

One user said “No thank you” while another declared the tubs “a box of wrong”.

Others criticised the price, describing the product as a “bit expensive”.

They added: “I love Bounty anything but I bet there isn’t many in there.”

How to find the best bargains at the supermarket

A spokesperson for Mars told The Sun:  “While Bounty-only Celebrations tubs will not be returning to shelves this Christmas, Bounty fans can rest assured that their favourite coconut treat can be found in our classic Celebrations tubs – alongside all your other favourites!”

Sometimes supermarkets sell excess stock from past seasons, so shoppers need to be quick to get their hands on it.

You can find your nearest Tesco by using the store locator tool on the supermarket’s website.

You could also call ahead to your local Tesco store to check the treats are in stock to avoid disappointment.

How to save money on chocolate

WE all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don't have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…

Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed on flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for supermarket’s own brand bars.

Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.

Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.

They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.

Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.

So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.

The Bounty-only tub divided fans when it was launched by Mars last year.

At the time there were just 300,000 tubs available with each on sale for £6 on the retailer’s website.

Customers with a Clubcard paid just £4.50.

It comes after Celebrations axed its popular Dark Bounty chocolate from its Easter lineup in a move which left fans ‘devastated’.

Fans took to social media website X (formerly Twitter) to vent their frustrations.

Among them was Piers Morgan, who described himself as “outraged” by the decision.

He said: “I’ve just been told my favourite dark chocolate red wrapper Bounty bars have been discontinued… Please reconsider.”

Meanwhile, Celebrations fans were outraged last month after the brand shrunk the size of its iconic red boxes by 50g, equal to a reduction of around five sweets.

Maker Mars Wrigley blamed the rising costs of raw materials and operations.
