M&S slashes price of £7 Percy Pig advent calendars to just 70p
Many superstores start trying to clear advent calendar stock after December 1
MARKS and Spencer has slashed the price of is popular Percy Pig calendar just days in to December.
The countdown to Christmas Day is now scanning for a mere 70p.
Usually the calendar costs £7 meaning shoppers can save a whopping 90%,.
A bargain hunter spotted the deal at Marks and Spencer’s store in London Archway.
The find was shared on hotukdeals.com, and the shopper wrote the promotional deal “should be national”.
Spoiler alert – The Naughty or Nice Piglets Advent Calendar contains a full-size bag of sweets behind the December 25 window.
A full size bag of Percy Pigs will set you back around £1.90 alone.
Behind the other doors, shoppers can enjoy opening a Percy Pig-sweet or a tangy Colin the Caterpillar soft gum.
The daily goodies are also discounted when ordering through Ocado, where they can be added to your basket for £3.50, though remember there may be delivery fees on top.
That’s still a 50% saving on the original price, but not as cheap as the saving in M&S stores.
It’s worth noting that stock levels can vary and as there’s a major discount on the calendar it could sell out quickly.
It could be worth calling ahead to check if its available to avoid a wasted journey. You can find your nearest branch using the store locator tool on M&S’ website.
It comes as many superstores start trying to clear advent calendar stock after December 1.
Farmfoods slashed the price of its Maltesers advent calendar by 80% – to just 49p.
The festive assortment contains different shapes of Malteser milk chocolate – with a Malteser reindeer for December 24.
Tesco is charging £2.75 for the same product, while Asda is charging £2.50.
Prices may vary day to day as well depending on what deals are on, and remember to look at delivery costs too if you’re ordering online.

How to save money on Christmas shopping
Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how you can save money on your Christmas shopping.
Limit the amount of presents – buying presents for all your family and friends can cost a bomb.
Instead, why not organise a Secret Santa between your inner circles so you’re not having to buy multiple presents.
Plan ahead – if you’ve got the stamina and budget, it’s worth buying your Christmas presents for the following year in the January sales.
Make sure you shop around for the best deals by using price comparison sites so you’re not forking out more than you should though.
Buy in Boxing Day sales – some retailers start their main Christmas sales early so you can actually snap up a bargain before December 25.
Delivery may cost you a bit more, but it can be worth it if the savings are decent.
Shop via outlet stores – you can save loads of money shopping via outlet stores like Amazon Warehouse or Office Offcuts.
They work by selling returned or slightly damaged products at a discounted rate, but usually any wear and tear is minor.
It comes as shoppers were devastated after M&S revealed it has axed a Christmas fan-favourite.
The posh shop has confirmed that its iconic Percy Pig chocolate bombe is no more after customers noticed its absence from shelves.
The Percy Pig bombe, which is part of an entire M&S hot chocolate bombe range, was cherished for its warming winter take on the iconic Percy character.
So fans were gutted when the supermarket took to X to confirm it was being discontinued.
One user wrote: “Hi @marksandspencer are you bringing back the percy pig hot chocolate bombs? I’ve noticed Rudolph and a snowman instead this year.”
To which Sparks replied: “Hello – not for this year. We have our Rudolph and Snowman options instead.”
Advent calendar best buys
It comes after Sun reporter Lynsey Hope taste-tested a variety of other advent calendars released this Christmas.
At the top of the rankings was Boots‘ £21 Pork Crackling version.
The calendar boasts 24 different flavours of crackling, including Pigs in Blankets, Salt Vinegar, Low & Slow BBQ, Black Pepper, Perfectly Salted and Marvellous Maple, for a perfect 10/10 score.
At the other end came Asda’s £6 Swizzles Sweet Shop Advent Calendar – which Lynsey gave a meagre 5/10.
She felt that the assortment of classic sweet shop flavours – including Refresher Bars, Squashies, Love Hearts, Drumstick, Fizzers, Parma Violets – was enjoyable but didn’t warrant the £6 price tag.
An honourable mention also went to Ocado‘s Bonne Maman Jam Advert – a £28 assortment of mini jams and preserves which scored an impressive 9/10.
And the same rating was awarded to Flapjackery’s gluten free advent calendar – filled with 24 different artisan flapjacks.
But, at a whopping £65, this might not be for everyone.
For those who prefer a boozy calendar to ring in Christmas Day, there are also plenty of beer versions on the market.
Sellers include Beavertown, Beer52 and Brewdog.
The Sun’s Lucy Atkins and Kieran Ahuja scored Beer52’s version the highest.
They said: “We loved the Beer52 Advent Calendar; it’s priced fairly well (on the scale of Beer Advent Calendars, at least), it contains a huge variety of beer from 24 breweries across seven countries, and almost everything we tasted was delicious.”
