These budget-friendly wrapping tricks will turn your gifts into showstoppers.

KITCHEN WIN: No wrapping paper? No problem.

Make like Gavin & Stacey’s Smithy and use kitchen foil folded around your gift before sealing the corners neatly — unless you like the scrunched effect, that is.

Leftover greaseproof paper is also a great dupe for brown parcel paper and looks just as good.

READ MORE ON CHRISTMAS

PAGE TURNER: Give magazines or old books a second life by using their pages as wrapping paper.

You could even use someone’s favourite magazine, or if you’re not pushed for time, cut out funny headlines or stylish pics that reference your recipient.

Monochrome book pages look sophisticated when paired with a bright red ribbon.

ART ATTACK: If you can part with a few kids’ drawings from nursery or school, these make excellent wrapping paper for close family members.

If you can convince your little one to write their name on the present, even better.

CARD TRICKS: If you’ve had your Christmas cards on the mantelpiece for a while, recycle them and turn them into DIY gift tags.

Shoppers go wild as Primark launch new range of stocking fillers for £5 or less - there's candles, games and more

Cut out the most festive designs, punch a hole in them or use a pencil to create one and attach with string or tape.

SPRUCE UP: Head to the garden and snip sprigs of holly, pine branches, or even hardy herbs such as rosemary to add a little festive charm to your presents.

As well as looking pretty they will smell delicious.

Tie them on to gifts with twine, ribbon, or string and dust with a tiny bit of flour for a frosted effect.

CITRUS TWIST: For a standout finishing touch, why not decorate your gifts with dried orange?

Cut an orange into thin slices, then lay the pieces flat in an airfryer on a low heat for a few minutes before removing and attaching to presents.

As a bonus, your home will smell great, too.
