THE cheapest house on Britain's most affordable street has hit the market for £50,000.
The property, which lies in the quiet town of Shildon, Durham, boasts an impressive interior - complete with huge kitchen, two bedrooms, and a newly renovated lounge.
Shildon has been dubbed one of the cheapest places to buy, with homes valued at less than 1.4 times local household incomes.
In October 2024, the average house in Shildon was valued at £73,200, while the estimated annual household income was £65,800, Zoopla revealed.
However, a semi-detached property that requires no renovations, is on the market for £23,000 less.

Currently, there are others available for just £40,000 – but they’re listed as an auction, meaning this is likely the starting bid amount.
This property, however, is a regular chain-free sale.
In July 2024, a home went on the market for just £15,000.
It sits in one of the historic counties of England that's home to more than 500 miners' cottages, as well as several shops and chapels.
It boasts a spacious living room, garden, two bedrooms, kitchen, and bathroom.
