Three ways to make the most of your unwanted Christmas presents
THE great Christmas re-gift is underway.
Seventy per cent of us have given away or sold a prezzie we would never use, eBay reports.
But flogging your unwanted goodies is just one option.
You could try out these alternatives instead . . .
TAKE IT BACK: Endeavour to get hold of the receipt, to minimise any hassle.
But remember you don’t automatically have the right to return an item to the shop.

Stores are under no obligation to give a refund unless the product is faulty, not as described or unfit for purpose.
You’ll have the best chance of getting a refund with a receipt — so ask your gift giver if they have one, explaining you don’t want to waste their money.
Some shops will let you exchange for an alternative item, even if you don’t have proof of purchase, or they’ll allow you a gift card instead.
PASS IT ON: It might not be the right gift for you, but it could be perfect for a friend.
TopCashback’s Molly Mileham-Chappell says: “There’s no shame in passing it along.
“Just don’t leave it so long that you forget who gave it to you and accidentally re-gift it to them!”
If you’re going to hang on to the present for a while, label it to avoid slipping up.
You could also find a good home via a sharing network such as Freecycle, Olio or Nextdoor.
HELP THOSE IN NEED: In the spirit of spreading festive cheer, why not donate your gift to a worthy cause.
Unopened beauty or bathroom products can be given to your local hygiene bank.

Unwanted food or household items could go to a food bank.
Search for your favourite charity online to find out if it takes unwanted gifts.
Many set up special donation banks just for this.
And some, such as the British Heart Foundation, let you download a label to post off your gifts for free.
