Regular working hours have returned to most high street stores but modified opening hours and shutterings could disappoint those keen to head to some retailers as 2024 draws to a close.

Asda’s New Year’s Day opening hours revealed

Here are the store’s opening hours for today:

  • January 1 – open 9am to 6pm

Screwfix opening hours as we enter 2025

Screwfix have announced that they will open under reduced hours on New Year’s Day.

However, some of their London stores will have extended hours.

Heading to Morrisons? Here’s what you need to know

Morrisons is the fourth biggest supermarket chain in the UK and is loved for its low prices.

The supermarket also serves 9 million customers every week and is even busier during December.

To keep up with demand, the supermarket will have reduced operating hours for December 31 and January 1.

On January 1, all stores will be open from 9am to 6pm.

M&S’s opening hours revealed

According to YouGov’s 2024 poll, M&S is the nation’s second favourite supermarket after Aldi.

The luxury brand is beloved for its food halls and wide range of options, including its vegan friendly Plant Kitchen range.

The high-street favourite will give its workers some time off on New Year’s Day, when it will shut once again.

Some stores will be open until 7pm on January 1, hence shoppers are advised to check their local branch beforehand.

High time for Bannatyne

Founded by Scottish entrepreneur and Dragon’s Den star Duncan Bannatyne, the Bannatyne Health Clubs are among the UK’s most popular spots for fitness enthusiasts.

The chain began in 1997 in North Yorkshire and has since expanded to numerous locations nationwide.

Bannatyne’s closed at 4pm on New Year’s Eve and will remain shut on January 1.

Be sure to check your local club for opening times on Thursday, January 2.

Ahead of the busy festive period, Waitrose made a statement about their opening hours.

They said: “For New Year’s Day, some shops will be opening as normal for trading with reduced hours.”
