Most stores across the UK were closed on Christmas Day but opened up again for Boxing Day sales.
Closures now look set to continue as Brits prepare to welcome in 2025.
Regular working hours have returned to most high street stores but modified opening hours and shutterings could disappoint those keen to head to some retailers as 2024 draws to a close.

Opening times at Morrisons
Morrisons stores will operate normal trading hours today.
Tomorrow, stores will open from 7am to 7pm, with a 6am start in Scotland.
Most stores will be open from 9am to 6pm on New Year’s Day, with regular hours resuming on Thursday, January 2.
It is advisable to check your nearest store’s opening hours online as some times may vary.
Lidl New Year opening hours
Lidl stores will operate normal trading hours today and tomorrow.
All stores will be closed on New Year’s Day, with regular hours resuming on Thursday, January 2.
M&S to close on New Year's Day
M&S shoppers have just two days to visit the store before it closes again on New Year’s Day.
It is advisable to check your nearest store's opening hours online before visiting today and tomorrow.
Festive fitness
Unlike numerous gym chains across the UK, the Gym Group keeps its branches open 24/7, giving you the flexibility to work out whenever you please.
However, this festive season will see a change in their schedule.
The chain was shut on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day, even though they typically operate on bank holidays.

The chain began in 1997 in North Yorkshire and has since expanded to numerous locations nationwide.
Bannatyne’s reopened at 6am yesterday following its brief festive closure.
It will close at 4pm on New Year’s Eve and will remain shut on January 1, 2025.

The popular budget supermarket will then re-open on January 2, so that their workers can spend time with their families.
Post Office Bank holidays in 2025
New Year’s Day isn’t the only bank holiday that people can look forward to, in 2025.
In the England and Wales, there are eight planned bank holidays.
They include:

Deliveries over the New Year period
Deliveries will be affected by the planned closures over the New Year Period.
The Post Office does not collect or deliver packages on bank holidays, which means there will be no postal service on January 1, 2025.
However, deliveries are expected to take place as normal on December 31, 2024.
That means you’ll have to send your parcel early in order to make sure that it is delivered on time.

However, the Post Office will often operate reduced hours over New Year too, as Christmas is such a busy delivery period.
The Post Office will be closed on both New Year’s Eve 2024 and New Year’s Day 2025.

A mammoth 22.5million Brits will join the Boxing Day sales stampede, with 14.8million of us heading to high streets.
The predicted 5.8 per cent jump in shop-goers on last year heralds the first time since 2021 that post-Christmas sales have gone up.

On January 1, stores will open from 8am to 8pm, and convenience stores will stay open a little later, from 8am to 9pm.
As with Tesco, local stores may vary their opening times so ask in your local branch about their festive hours.
Morrisons’ opening hours revealed
Morrisons is the fourth biggest supermarket chain in the UK and is loved for its low prices.
The supermarket also serves 9 million customers every week and is even busier during December.
To keep up with demand, the supermarket will have reduced operating hours for December 31 and January 1.
On New Year’s Eve, some stores will open as early as 6am or 7am and close by 7pm.
On January 1, all stores will be open from 9am to 6pm.
