Savvy shopper reveals 1p gardening essential for sale at supermarket chain – including festive bargains

SAVVY shoppers on the hunt for items for their garden bits are flocking to Sainsbury's for 1p planters.

Numerous bargain hunters shared their recent finds on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group Facebook page.

Users shared images of their trolleys stacked with various plants, from little Christmas trees to hyacinth's - all of which only cost 1p each.

One happy shopper said: "Couldn't resist popping down after seeing some of the posts to see if they had any plants at my local.

"Got some Christmas trees, bulbs for the garden and a couple of Cyclamen, rounded off with some grow your own trees which I spotted on the way to the checkout.

"All reduced to a penny each. Two of the trees had lights on them lol!"

Another added: "Thank you very much to whoever posted everything was 1p.

"Total [of] 38p spent at Sainsbury's.

"I went back and got more even the Christmas trees in basket pots were 1p."

A photo of the customer's basket showed that they had managed to pick up a jumble of mini planters, as well as a couple of vases and some pot plants for under £1.

Elsewhere, there were also big savings on Christmas food as the festive period comes to an end.

One shopper showed that a "late bargain" had allowed her to get £105 off a trio of gammon joints using her Nectar card.

The three huge hunks of meat came to just £35 altogether.

That's about the same as just one of them would have cost at full price.

Other deals included one customer who got a joint of their own and more than a dozen boxes of party food for just £25.

And one mum picked up a special treat for her kids in the form of a box of hot chocolate cereal mix reduced to just 50p.
