Map reveals Britain’s cheapest cities for pub grub with a surprising twist – where does your region rank?
A MAP has revealed Britain's cheapest cities for pub grub - with a surprising twist.
While Brits love nothing more than a hearty pub roast, the cost of living crisis has driven up prices across the UK.
Luckily, the new map, based on data from Alliance Online, shows where you can still enjoy reasonably priced grub across England, Scotland and Wales - based on the average price of a meal for two.
And, interestingly, some spots in the - normally cheaper - north were pricier than those in the south.
The cheapest spot went to Swansea in Wales, where two people can dine for an average of £17.
This means the average price for one is £8.50, with many options being considerably cheaper.

The city has a thriving pub culture, with 135 watering holes to choose from.
In joint second were Gloucester, Kingston upon Hull and Coventry.
With an average price of £22 for two, singular punters can enjoy a meal for £11 or even less in these spots - placed in the south, north and Midlands respectively.
Particularly surprising is Gloucester's high position on the map - as its located in the notoriously posh county of Gloucestershire.

Next up on the list were Southend on Sea and Leeds - both boasting average pub prices of £24.
Then, sharing fifth place was Portsmouth, Stoke-on-Trent and Birmingham - at £26.
Wales made its second appearance at number six with capital city Cardiff, where a meal for two can be bagged for just £28.
Five cities - Dundee, Peterborough, Preston, Sheffield, and Liverpool - came in jointly at seven, all with an average price of £29.
And trailing them were Norwich (£30), Reading (£31) and Cambridge and Luton (£32).
Reflecting on the analysis, Rachael Kiss from Alliance Online remarked: "It's so important to support your local pub when you can and eating out is a great way to do so.
"Our data shows that you don't need to break the bank to enjoy a homecooked pub lunch and it's surprising to see the regions where locals can enjoy a pub meal at such a low price.
"While it's great to see so many places where more affordable meals are available, it's important to understand that many of our local pubs are under increasing operational and financial pressures so even if it's just a treat every once in a while, supporting your local goes a long way!"
It comes after another map revealed the 16 British pubs named as one of Europe's best - including a quaint village inn.
The Holly Bush Inn in the village of Makeney, Derbyshire came in at an impressive number 21 on the Europe-wide list.
It scored a whopping 9.5 out of 10 with judges calling it "characterful" and serving food which is "customer-focused".
