The 80cm replica will also take three years to painstakingly assemble as it comes in weekly instalments.

Enthusiasts said they could buy a full-size exterminator for half the price, and make it quicker too.

They must buy all 140 issues of Hachette Partworks’ The Dalek, with all but the first two costing £11.99.

The final part of their Time War Dalek will eventually arrive in December 2027 — by which time they will have forked out £1,664.

One fan fumed online: “It costs almost £1,700. Gross.”

Another said: “Why would anyone want to buy this?

“You could buy a full-size one for that price.”

Dalek building connoisseur Mark Casto told The Sun: “Sadly most people will have been put off by the price tag.

“I think the cost is too high considering you can make one full size for about £800.

“I would rather spend my money on making a full-size Dalek.

Another fan said: “Almost had me buying it. But money-wise it is impossible for me to afford around £44 quid a month. I’d have liked this but it’s too long and too much money.”

Doctor Who returns in Christmas Special Joy to the World

The Daleks have been the Doctor’s most fearsome enemy since they rolled in on the BBC in 1963.

The Time War Dalek first appeared in the 2005 reboot, with Christopher Eccleston as The Doctor and Billie Piper playing his assistant Rose Tyler.
