EASTER FEAST

Aldi slashes veggie prices to 19p a pack…but here’s the ONE THING you should do before you buy

Cooking a roast on Easter Sunday? Aldi has slashed the price of essential veggies - but its worth checking prices before you shop

ALDI has slashed the price of Easter roast essentials to as little as 19p a pack, including carrots, parsnips and leeks.

The bargain supermarket has chopped its prices in half, as it usually sells similar veggies for 42p a pack.

Other supermarkets have also slashed the price - with Asda selling similar packs for 20p. Lidl is down to 29p, down from 39p and Sainsbury's is down to 40p from 60p.

Aldi has also cut the price of broccoli to 29p and shoppers can pick up a 1kg of white potatoes for the same price.

Despite rising food prices, supermarkets have been battling for customers over the past few months.

The popularity of bargain shops Aldi and Lidl has hit rivals Tesco, Sainsbury's and Asda.

Data firm Nielson UK estimates that almost half of spending at Lidl and Aldi is on fruit, veg and fresh meat.

But there's one thing that bargain hunters should do before they leave the house - compare the prices.

MySupermarket.com compares prices at Tesco, Asda, Ocado, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Poundland, Iceland, Aldi, Lidl, Amazon, Boots, Superdrug, M&S and Poundstretcher.

Simply visit the website and add items to your basket and it will compare prices and tell you which supermarket is cheapest based on your shopping list.

You can even use it to order your shopping for delivery too.

Yesterday, Aldi confirmed that its knock-off scented candles which smell just like ones from Jo Malone have been added as a "core item" to its homeware line.

It means that shoppers will be able to buy them indefinitely.

But only if they buy them online as the candles are not being sold in shops.
