LIDL, Waitrose and Ocado have pulled frozen meat-free mince from their shelves after blue plastic was discovered in the product.
MTA Foods (UK) has recalled several batches of What’s Cooking? Frozen Meat Free Mince and Meet The Alternative Beef Style Mince.
The product may contain pieces of blue plastic, the Food Standards Agency said.
They are advising customers who have bought the product to return it for a full refund.
Affected products are 454g packets of What’s Cooking? Frozen Meat Free Mince of all dates and 500g bags of Meet The Alternative Beef Style Mince with best before dates of January 2018, February 2018, April 2018.
They were sold at Lidl, Waitrose and Ocado.
A spokesman for Lidl said: "Lidl UK is recalling What’s Cooking? Frozen Meat Free Mince, 454g, all best before dates, due to our supplier finding small pieces of blue plastic in the product.
"If you have bought the above product we advise you not to eat it. Instead, return it to a Lidl UK store for a full refund."
