Poundland delays launch of copycat Toblerone bar after legal row with Mondelez

The copycat Twin Peaks chocolate bar has two humps rather than one single triangle chunk, made famous by the Toblerone

Poundland has been forced to delay the launch of its “Twin peaks” chocolate bar due to a legal battle with Toblerone.

The copycat chocolate bar has two humps rather than a distinctive single triangle chunk - but it looks very much like the famous chocolate treat.

The new bar is an attempt to cash in on Brits’ fury at the shrinking sizes of their favourite treats.

Mondelez angered chocolate fans when it reduced the size of Toblerone bars from 170g to 150g in November last year, after it increased the gap between triangles as part of a cost-cutting measure.

But it’s not just chocolate that has been shrinking, packs of sausages, turkey fillets and even frozen chips have reduced in size - but not price - according to a report by Channel 4’s Dispatches.

While The Sun Online revealed how Birds Eye has already shrunk packs of fish fingers, as well as catching out Tropicana for cutting the size of orange cartons.
