Grieving Johnny Depp sells his sprawling £2.2million 41-acre Kentucky ranch he bought for his mother after she passed away 15 months ago
ACTOR Johnny Depp is selling off his majestic Kentucky horse farm worth £2.2million next month.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 54, reportedly bought the sprawling property near Lexington in 1995 for $950,000 (£735,000).
But he sold it in 2001 for $1 million and mysteriously repurchased it in 2005 for $2million (£1.5million).
The six-bed, seven-bath house covers 6,000 square feet and sits on 41 acres of land.
It also has a pool, guest house, four-car garage, three large barns, and ten paddocks.
There are also two barns, 15 stalls, four automatic waterers, paddocks, a guest house and managers' quarters.
Jim Halfhill, senior auctioneer of the Halfhilll Auction Group who are organising the sale, said: "It's a gorgeous farm with tremendous potential.
He added: "There has been an amazing level of domestic and international interest in this property due to its famous owner."
The listing, held by Rector-Hayden Realtors' Gary Denton, describes it as a "beautiful estate with a spectacular location is just two miles from the world renowned Keeneland Race Course".
The actor is said to have bought the home for his mother Betty Sue Palmer who passed away last year.
It was initially listed for sale in December at $3.4million (£2.6million) but was later dropped to $2.9million (£2.2million)
The auction goes live on September 15.
The group hasn't revealed the minimum price that would be accepted.
Johnny was born in Kentucky but grew up in Florida.
In recent months, he has been making headlines more for his personal life than his film career.
Last year, he went through a messy divorce with Amber Heard which left his wallet £5.5million lighter.
The couple were only married for two years.
