Test all the colors, brushes, and patterns you can think about from your phone, creating special effects from scratch.

The company behind it are called Twinkly which has partnered with the retail giant to sell a multicolour Christmas lights chain.

The setup is quick and intuitive and the free app works both on Android and iOS phones.

All you need to do is place the lights on the tree, open the app, and begin customising your decorations.

Your phone camera then recognises the position of the LEDs, marking the allocation from a programmed sequence, so you can individually control and potentially change the colour of each individual light.

For example, you could create a UK floating flag or colour your tree like a rainbow.
