Morrisons launches £5 veg box that can feed a family of four for FIVE days
It saves a family of four about £5 a month on buying everything separately at other supermarkets
MORRISONS have launched a seasonal veg box that can keep the family full for a week for just a fiver.
Following in the footsteps of posh names like Ocado and Abel and Cole, Morrisons veg box is just a fraction of the price.
Many of the high end veg boxes that are delivered to your door usually start at £13.75, so you're getting a good deal with the one from Morrisons.
What's more, if you bought the same vegetables loose from either Morrisons, Tesco, Sainsbury's or Asda it would set you back on average of about £6.14.
Like Asda, Morrisons already offer a wonky veg box for £3 that can be ordered for delivery with your shopping.
But the new boxes will feature all-British vegetables shaped to standard and are designed to make eating fresh food more affordable.
It includes eight different seasonal vegetables such as carrots, onions, potatoes, cauliflower, and courgettes.
Unlike the wonky vegetable boxes, the food in the new one will come from British farms in Cornwall, Lincolnshire, Suffolk and Yorkshire.
What's in a Morrisons' veg box?
IF you're thinking about getting stuck into one of the new veg boxes, here's what you can expect:
- Carrots - 1kg
- Onions - 1kg
- Swede - 500g
- Savoy - 100g
- Courgettes - 300g
- Leeks - 500g
- In total, that's just over 4kg of fresh, British vegetables.
The launch follows a successful online trial earlier this year where the veg boxes sold at a rate of 2,000 in a week.
Andy Todd, Vegetable Buyer at Morrisons, said: “We’ve listened to our customers who told us they want even more affordable veg. They are a great way for our customers to buy British or eat seasonally or feed the family for the week.”

From today, you'll be able to pick up your veg box from stores or you can order them online from October 2nd.
The supermarket giant also offers an Organic Veg Box at a more price cost of £8.
Earlier this year, Morrisons added asparagus to its wonky veg range, making it the cheapest on the market.
