Morrisons’ Volcanic Vindaloo curry is made with a chilli that’s 200 times hotter than a Jalapeño

MORRISONS now sells the hottest ever curry sold by a supermarket - and it's made using the naga chilli which is 200 times hotter than a jalapeno pepper or Tabasco sauce.

The red hot ready meal hits shelves from today to mark National Curry Week and the supermarket claims it was created to satisfy curry lovers who find existing offerings too mild.

The fiery dish comes with a warning for its extreme heat

Morrisons has worked with expert curry chefs to create the chicken dish which packs the heat of a restaurant-bought chicken vindaloo.

As well as naga chillies, which have a Scoville rating of up to one million, the Volcanic Vindaloo is topped with roasted whole green chillies.

The meal's packaging carries a warning notice and has been given a SIX chilli rating, so brave customers taking on the meal are aware of its heat.

Morrisons has also recommended only people over 16 have the curry.

Morrisons ready meals expert Sean Gill said: "Curry fans have been telling us that they just don't get the fiery heat they want from ordinary ready meal curries.

"With this in mind we decided to take up their challenge and create the hottest ready meal in the country – something with the extreme heat you get when you order a Vindaloo in your favourite restaurant.

SPICE UP YOUR LIFE This is the city in Britain where punters like the spiciest curry - but where does your town rank?

"I'm used to tasting spicy curries as part of my job but this one blew my head off. It tastes fantastic but my mouth felt like it was on fire. You definitely need to have a glass of milk ready."

A warning on the curry states: "Warning. An extra red hot, fiery hot chicken curry with naga chillies."

Morrisons rates it as a "six chilli curry". Its previous hottest was merely three chillis.

It costs £1.50 and will be available in Morrisons stores for a limited period.
