Iceland’s £65 Fortnum & Mason inspired Christmas hampers – could save you £110
Iceland reckons its shoppers can knock-up a hamper by picking up items in store, including a £5 hamper
ICELAND claims its shoppers can buy a Christmas hamper that looks just like one from luxury retailer Fortnum & Mason...but it's £110 cheaper.
The supermarket, which is known for its wide range of frozen food, has recently extended its store cupboard range with loads of new luxury food items, including chocolate and pasta sauce.
Iceland claims shoppers can pick up the items they'd need from one of their 900 branches around the UK, including a hamper which costs £5.
The frozen food specialist has priced up all the items in the posh hamper to work out how much shoppers could save.
It suggests luxury brandy butter, which costs £1.79 for 200g - instead of F&M's which costs £4.95 for a similar size.
While its Xmas pudding costs £6, compared to almost £14.
It also suggest shoppers fill up their baskets with its cheaper champagne, red and white wine, Twinings English Breakfast tea bags, cranberry sauce, strawberry jam and a bag of chocolate and nuts.
According to Iceland's maths you can pick up all the items in an Fortnum & Mason, plus the basket for £64.99.
That's a massive £11o less than their £175 luxury hamper.
Although, it's really no surprise that you can buy items from a hamper MUCH cheaper elsewhere.
It's interesting that the supermarket is trying to tap into the same market as rivals, Aldi and Lidl.
Aldi's range of hampers have also been designed to look just like Fortnum & Mason, including one which has the distinctive blue and gold packaging.
