HAMMING IT UP

Aldi is now selling a salted caramel GAMMON for Christmas for £6.49

The bargain retailer's gammon can feed between eight to 12 people and can be served hot as a centrepiece or cold, carved as ham

ALDI has just unveiled the one thing missing from your Christmas dinner menu: a salted caramel gammon joint.

The piece of meat is a medium-large gammon joint - from 1.4 to 2.1 kilograms - and costs just £6.49.

Now in stores, the bargain retailer's gammon can feed between eight to 12 people, and can be served hot as a centrepiece or cold, carved as ham.

It also comes with a smooth caramel sauce that meat lovers can pour over the gammon during cooking, which will apparently give it a sweet and nutty note.

We couldn't find an exact equivalent to Aldi's offer as no other supermarket seems to be selling a salted caramel gammon joint.

Still, it is a pretty good deal good, considering a smoked bone in gammon joint at Tesco costs £4 per kilogram.

While at Waitrose a kilogram of oak smoked bone in gammon joint will set you back by £11.99.

ALL YOU CAN MEAT Marks and Spencer is selling a £35 meat box and it’s actually an amazing deal

If you're not a fan of mixing sweet and savoury flavours, Aldi also launched a ham alternative - a Christmas crackling gammon.

According to the retailer, the piece of meat has a warming, sweet maple cure that's finished with a Beechwood Smoke and it costs £5.99.

But you'll have to be quick - it's part of Aldi's Special Buys range, which means that stock is likely to be limited.

For example when a mega-cheap Brauhn 4k 49inch LE TV for £320 went on sale as a Special Buy in November, the Sun Online revealed that the stores with the largest amount of stock had just six TVs in stock when their doors opened at 8am.

Whether you like Aldi's meaty products depend entirely on your taste but the retailer and its rival Lidl actually gained popularity for stocking up top steaks at a budget price.

Both budget stores have recently been given the stamp of approval by posh lifestyle magazine Tatler.

Morrisons is also known for its generous offers for meat lovers.

Earlier this year, the grocer, which committed to sell British-only fresh meat, sold a meat box with almost 2kg of meat for just £10.
