Lidl launches new festive veg range to help kids eat their greens – and they cost 79p each
Playful names and colourful characters help make products more appealing to younger customers, according to the supermarket
A KID given greens during the indulgent holiday season would probably think he has been put on the naughty list - but Lidl claims that its veggie range can make things more playful.
The budget retailer is expanding its fun-size fruit and veg range with festive-themed products to help parents inspire their little ones to eat all the trimmings this December.
The new items include Rudolph noses (or fun-shaped mini red potatoes) and Santa Sprouts (tiny brussels sprouts in disguise).
Kids can also treat themselves to the Penguin Parsnippers (also known as baby parsnips) or the Snowman Snouts (regular baby carrots).

Costing just 79p per pack, the Christmas themed veggies will be landing in stores today (Monday December 11).
Emma Byrne, from Lidl, said she hopes the new festive additions will be "huge hit" with families.
She said:"Our Penguin Parsnippers and Santa Sprouts have been designed to help convince even the fussiest of eaters that veg is something to look forward to, rather than being a battleground at mealtimes” .
In October, the budget store added the animal shaped Rad-fishes and Celery Storks to the range.

THE new items, which will be landing in stores w/c 11 December, include:
- Rudolph Noses (mini red potatoes) – 79p
- Santa Sprouts (mini brussels sprouts) – 79p
- Penguin Parsnippers (baby parsnips) – 79p
- Snowman Snouts (baby carrots) – 79p
The latest additions joined the grocer's mini broccoli trees, cauliflower clouds, sweet potato piggies as well as the popular romanesaurus rex and unicorn carrots, which launched earlier this year.
A total of 16 new items have been introduced in 2017 with more coming in the new year.

It includes the so-called Avodillos (baby avocados) launching in the new year.
The latest offering form part of the retailer's wider commitment to making vegetables more accessible to shoppers across the UK.
Lidl is not the only supermarket to take children’s fascination with shapes into account.
Earlier this year, Tesco launched sculpted fresh fruit and vegetables in the shape of stars and faces in a bid to tempt kids into eating their veggies.
It comes as a new study found kids should be encouraged to play with their greens as a tactic to make them to eat their vegetables.
Touching, smelling and looking at their veg will help children to grow to like it, according to an Oxford professor.
