Forget pigs in blankets, Asda is selling DEER wrapped in bacon for Xmas day
The supermarket's "exciting twist" on the popular trimming is now in stores - but would you want to eat Rudolph on Christmas Day?
IT'S one of the best things about Christmas dinner and you can now pimp-up your pigs in blankets - as long as you don't mind tucking into Rudolph and his pals.
Asda is now selling venison in blankets as a posh alternative to the festive favourite.
Its deer in duvets are on sale now for just £2.98, with the supermarket calling it an "exciting twist" on the classic trimming.
The new treat is described as combining "tender and gluten-free venison sausages with smoked dry cured bacon" and is "succulent, rich in flavour and deliciously moreish."
The Sun Online hasn't had chance to taste the deer in duvets yet - but we're not sure the thought of eating deer on Christmas Day will go down too well in lots of households.
A spokesperson for the supermarket said: "We’re delighted with this new addition to Asda’s party food range.
"Our venison in blankets will help customers take their Christmas trimmings to the next level - a delicious quality product inspired by a traditional festive favourite."
The deer in duvets are the latest weird and wonderful products to be launched by the major supermarkets in the run-up to Christmas.
At the beginning of December, Aldi started selling a salted caramel gammon joint for just £6.49.
Meanwhile, Marks and Spencer is selling a Christmas pudding smoothie.
More on money
The quirky drink is available for £1.50 and contains 300 calories - but it's for a good cause with five per cent of sales from its Christmas Food on the Move range going to homeless charity Shelter.
If you can't be bothered to spend hours in the kitchen, then you might want to think about Lidl's Christmas PIZZA, which is on sale for £3.
And if you can't get enough of the Christmas dinner favourite, Pringles and Tesco has launched their own pigs in blankets flavoured crisps.
