Last-minute Christmas shoppers face chaos as supermarkets run out of delivery slots
Morrisons has run out delivery slots, while other supermarkets, including Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda and Waitrose, are warning of "limited availability"
CHRISTMAS shoppers face chaos trying to buy food for their festive feasts as some supermarkets have already run out of delivery slots.
Morrisons has completely run out of slots, while Sainsbury's, Tesco, Asda and Waitrose only have "limited availability".
Some supermaket branches have even stopped taking "click and collect" orders as they struggle to meet demand from shoppers.
Shops are expected to be busier than usual in the run-up to December 25 as the majority of supermarkets closing at 4pm on Christmas eve due to Sunday trading rules.
It has left some shopppers in a panic that they may face large queues or delays.
Some have been contacting supermarkets via Twitter to ask if there is an error as they are unable to book delivery orders.
One unhappy shopper said: "@waitrose Trying to make an order from Altrincham store; every Click & Collect slot is full until after Christmas. Ditto home delivery. So can't buy anything from you unless in person?"
Another said: "@sainsburys hi trying to book a delivery slot for the 23rd, website is showing this, are there no slots available or is this an error?"

Can you still book a Christmas delivery?
SOME supermarkets have completely run out, while others have limited availability here's what they've told us:
- Morrisons - completely run out
- Sainsbury's - limited slots available
- Tesco - limited slots available
- Asda - no response
- Marks & Spencer - Food orders closed on Friday, as planned
- Ocado - limited slots available
- Waitrose - no response
"That is of course subject to availability, so to avoid disappointment we encourage customers to book delivery slots in advance."
Marks and Spencer stopped accepting orders for Christmas food on Friday, as previously planned.
Last year shoppers were also warned not to rely on last minute click and collect or online delivery orders after shops revealed the majority had been booked up by December 21.
A spokesperson from Tesco told The Sun that there is still some availability for orders. Customers must log into the Tesco.com weebsite to see delivery options for their local store.
"We still have availability to book Christmas deliveries but slots are filling up fast. We’re almost full for 23rd and 24th, but there are still some available up to 22nd December," an Asda spokesperson said.
