Iceland now sells loads of posh but cheap cheese as it expands its luxury food range

The frozen supermarket is now selling 15 varieties of cheese at knock-down prices

IF you're after some luxury for New Year's Eve, then you'll want to get along to Iceland this weekend.

The frozen supermarket has launched a new luxury range of 15 BRIE-LLIANT cheeses - at a budget price.

It's award-winning 180g Vintage Cheddar is on sale for £1.75 and picked-up a top award at the 2017 International Cheese Awards.

That's 25p cheaper than a similar Cathedral City Mature Cheddar on sale at Tesco for £2.

Its 100g Goats' Cheese is available at £1.50 -

For the cheese buffs among you, its French Comte is on sale for £3 - the same price that Sainsbury's is selling its Taste the Difference cheese for.

Other cheeses in the range include a German Triple Cream Blue (£2, 130g), a French Petit Reblochon (£2.50, 230g) and a British Cave Aged Goats Cheese (£2, 150g).

It's also selling a ready-made selection board with five cheeses - Brie, Cheddar, Leicestershire Red, Blue Stilton and Stilton with Blueberries - for £5 - £1 cheaper than Waitrose's similar offer.

The Sun Online hasn't tasted any of the cheeses yet but they could be worth a punt if you've got friends coming round for New Year's Eve.

Iceland’s Head Chef, Neil Nugent said: “We know that customers are getting more adventurous with their cheese preferences and demand is going far beyond the usual staples such as cheddar.

"We wanted to bring more luxurious, aspirational options to the range but at accessible prices. With these new launches, customers can enjoy quality, award winning cheeses from top producers at low prices."

Iceland launched its luxury range back in October, following in the footsteps of Aldi and Lidl.

The range features a wide variety of products and items, including chocolate, cookies, biscuits, crisps and pasta sauces.

Last year, it splashed £2.5million on introducing a new range of gourmet food at cheap prices, including gaucho rump steaks for £4 and whole lobsters for £6.

The cheese is now available in all stores across the country.
