Domino’s charges up to 70p MORE for pizzas on its menu compared to Create Your Own ones with exactly the same ingredients
A small Pepperoni Passion pizza on the Domino's menu costs £13.99 but if use the create your own tool with EXACTLY the same ingredients it will cost you just £13.29
DOMINO'S charges up to 70p MORE for pizzas on its menu compared to ordering a "Create Your Own" version with exactly the same ingredients.
The pizza chain has a "create your own" tool which allows customers to customise their takeaway delivery.
But the Sun Online has found that it is frequently cheaper for customers to pick the ingredients and order a pizza, rather than ordering directly off the menu.
For example, a small speciality Pepperoni Passion pizza delivered from a store in Reading costs £13.99, whereas a customised one with exactly the same ingredients costs £13.29 - 70p cheaper.
We checked prices at branches of Domino's in Reading, Birmingham, London, Leeds, Kent and Penzance.
We chose a pizza at random from each branch from the menu and checked this against creating one with the "create your own" customisation option.
In five of the examples - at Reading, Birmingham, London, Leeds and Kent - it was cheaper to go DIY.
We tried to order a large New Yorker in Penzance for delivery but found that it would cost you £1 more to customise it yourself.
The trick only seemed to work on small and medium pizzas.

There are over 1,000 Domino's stores in the UK and branches are run as franchises, which means each store is responsible for setting their own prices.
The price difference was initially spotted by 19-year-old savvy shopper Andrew Taylor from Essex after he ordered a pepperoni pizza with a few extra toppings.
"I first discovered [the trick] when I was looking at making a pizza and I was making a pepperoni one and put a few extra toppings on then removed them, and saw it was cheaper to make your own," he told the Sun Online.
"From then, I’ve always made them that way and got it cheaper - saved myself a lot of money doing it that way."
Andrew shared the tip on a money saving Facebook group called .

Nina Arnott from Domino's told The Sun Online that the price difference may be down to "larger servings of toppings" on the speciality pizzas.
She said: "Our speciality pizzas have larger servings of toppings than Create Your Own measures, so it’s often not a like for like comparison.
"In the majority of cases, speciality pizzas represent better value; a large Mighty Meaty at Leeds Headingly saves £4.40, or a Large Vegi Supreme at Wimbledon costs £1.50 less than the Create Your Own equivalents.
"However, Create Your Own offers customers the flexibility to hand-make their favourite ingredients on one pizza."
The pizza chain came under fire earlier this year after it was discovered that Brits pay FOUR times the price for Domino's pizza than in other parts of the world.
A large margherita pizza bought in the UK costs a hefty £14.99, but in New Zealand it costs just £2.87.
