Babyliss is recalling a batch of shavers due to fears that batteries may catch fire
The affected batch of face and body groomers have been pulled from shelves amid worries that the battery could overcharge and set alight
HAIR-CARE tech specialists Babyliss has pulled a men's shaver from shelves over fears the battery could overcharge and cause a fire.
The retail giant assures customers that it is only one batch of the BaByliss For Men AcuBlade Lithium Face and Body Groomer that is affected.
In a recall notice, Babyliss said that the battery could malfunction in "extremely rare circumstances" but that it does still "pose a potential fire hazard".
The cordless shaver comes with a rechargeable lithium battery which takes two hours to charge. The handset typically costs around £50.
The potential risk is feared to happen when it is plugged in at the mains to charge.
The affected shavers have a batch code of 2416PT2 which can be found in the inside of the product by detaching the cutting head from the main body.
You can make sure if your shaver is affected by checking the reference number is REF 7426U on the handle.
In the statement Babyliss said: "We are asking any customers that own a 7426U Acublade Lithium Face and Body Groomer batch code 2416PT2 to stop using it immediately, ensure it is unplugged from the mains and contact us for a replacement."

Retailer Claire's Accessories has also issued a recall on make-up products in the aftermath of the gift-giving season while it investigates claims they contain asbestos.
The accessory chain has withdrawn 17 items from sale in the United States, after a concerned mum sent one of the sets she purchased for her daughter to be tested.
All the items are currently listed on its UK website under its "product and safety" pages.
