You old Polly Pocket sets could be worth a small fortune to collectors

The tiny dolls that bent in the middle came in pocket-sized cases that doubled up as a house for the toys to live in.

The original Bluebird Toy dolls stood less than an inch tall and the different shaped playsets - like pencil cases, pendants and heart shaped - make them collectables.

Now, collectors are paying big money to get their hands on them, with ones listed on eBay attracting bidders from all over the world.

It's time to check your old toy boxes - these are the ones to look out for:

Of course toys that are in mint condition and in original packaging will sell for more money but it looks like there's still an appetite for used ones among collectors.

This bundle of goods was sold from a seller based in Suffolk in the UK who provided very little information about what was in the cling film wrapped bundle.

How to avoid the dangers of selling your Polly Pocket on eBay

SELLING things on eBay can be a big money earner - when you're doing it right. Here are the dangers you need to avoid if you want to make a profit:

  • You need to set a minimum price on your auction. It needs to be higher or at least value to what you're selling, otherwise it could be bought for less than it's worth. This is exactly what happened when someone sold a new £10 note for less than a tenner.
  • Even if your item sells, there's no guarantee the buyer will cough up. When you set up the auction you can opt for the highest bidder to pay straight away.
  • Don't forget that eBay will charge you a sellers fee if you sell your item. If you're selling up to 50 items a month - and you're not a business -  you'll be charged 10 per cent of the sale. Take this into consideration when you're listing your item.
