Salaries can start at £30,000 or more in London and the South East, or £23,572 in other parts of the UK.
Benefits include a generous holiday allowance and pension.
All new officers get a Skills For Justice Level 3 Diploma after completing ten weeks’ training but the learning never stops.
Officers can go on to become PE instructors, dog handlers or trainers.
Staff come from a wide range of backgrounds, with each bringing their own experience to the role.
This year’s Prison Service Job Fair is at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in Westminster, Central London, on January 22. Entry is free and visitors can get help from recruitment managers filling in their application form.

The company, based in North Wales, runs the fastest zip line in the world and is seeking new instructors, sales staff, cafe assistants and chefs.
Roles are available at locations in Bethesda and Blaenau Ffestiniog in Gwynedd, as well as Betws-y-Coed in the Conwy Valley and the head office in Llanrwst.
