How AmazonFresh is up to 25 per cent cheaper than big supermarkets
The online grocery store is undercutting its traditional rivals on a host of items, a new price comparison study has revealed.
DOING your weekly shop with AmazonFresh instead of the major supermarkets can slash your bill by up to 25 per cent.
New research has revealed the online giant's grocery service can be much cheaper when compared with the traditional big supermarkets.
How much a customer would pay for 50 different items with AmazonFresh was compared against prices from Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda and Morrisons and online rival, Ocado.
Taking into account both own-label and branded products, AmazonFresh was found to be selling at an 11 per cent discount against Tesco, 15 per cent when compared to Morrsions, and 19 per cent against Sainsbury's.
The price gap is even larger when promotions and multi-buy offers are not included, with AmazonFresh proving between 15 per cent and 25 per cent cheaper.
Customers have to be Amazon Prime members to take advantage of the service, which launched back in the UK in June 2016, and offers same-day delivery.
It collects data from Tesco, Asda, Ocado, Waitrose, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Poundland, Iceland, Aldi, Lidl, Boots, Superdrug, Poundstretcher, M&S and Amazon.
All you have to do is add items to your basket and it will compare prices and tell you which supermarket its cheapest based on your shopping list.
The basket comes to a total of £18.87 but just £12.25 if you used AmazonFresh - a tidy saving of £6.62 or 43 per cent.
But remember that the service is only available to Prime members - which costs £79 a year - and you'll have to fork-out an additional £6.99 each month too.
