Boots pulls fruit snacks from shelves over fears they could trigger an allergic reaction

The pharmacy-led retailer has removed packets of Delicious Pineapple and Berry Compote because the label fails to mention that it contains milk

BOOTS has pulled packets of a pineapple snacks from shelves over fears they could cause an allergic reaction.

Thanks to a labelling mistake on packs of Delicious Pineapple and Berry Compote, the food could be a health risk to people with a milk allergy.

The retailer is advising that customers do not eat the fruity snack because the packets fail to declare that they contain the dairy product.

Affected packets have a use-by date of up to and including January 30 and they have a batch code of 80-61-068.

Alongside the pharmacy and beauty products, Boots also sells a range of lunchtime food, including sandwiches, crisps and snacks.

In the recall notice posted on the , the retailer said: "As part of our on-going quality monitoring programme we've identified that the above product contains milk that is not declared on the label.

"We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you. If you do have any concerns or need any further advice then please speak to someone at your local Boots store or call the Boots Customer Care team on 0800 915 0004."

The 110g plastic pouches come in two sections with the fruit on one side and the berry based compote in the smaller compartment.

If you have one that you think is affected you should return it to a Boots store in exchange for a full refund.
